LQ wins Most Eco Aware award for landmark development
L&Q’s Vale Street development in Lambeth has won the top award in the ‘Most Eco Aware’ category of the First Time Buyer Readers’ Awards 2010.
Vale Street is L&Q’s landmark sustainable development. It includes 60 homes for a mixture of affordable rent and part buy, part rent. It was the first in London to be completed to level four of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
The awards were held on the 22nd April and presented by TV property expert Phil Spencer. First Time Buyer publisher Linda Riley lauded all the nominees for their sterling efforts in assisting thousands of first time buyers on to the property ladder against a difficult background for the market in general.
Robin Feeley, L&Q’s Head of Sustainable Development, said: “This is real testament to the efforts of the project team behind this landmark scheme. Vale Street demonstrates L&Q’s commitment to building for the future and how we are focused on long term plans for building and maintaining sustainable communities.
“Vale Street has sustainability integral at every stage of the design and strategy for the development and aims to address climate change with an innovative design approach and deliverable technology. Vale Street is a perfect example of how we use our expertise and innovation to provide much needed high quality, affordable, sustainable homes.”
